1. JAMES FRANKLIN MILAM (THOMAS FERRILL⁵, COLEMAN⁴, THOMAS³, JOHN², UNKNOWN FATHER OF THE VIRGINIA¹ MILAMS) was born April 26, 1840 in Coffee County, Tennessee, and died March 26, 1911 in Moore, Frio County, Texas. He married NANCY ISABELLE LONG November 21, 1866 in Hardin County, Tennessee, daughter of ISAAC LONG and FRANCES STEELE?. She was born May 25, 1845 in Hardin County, Tennessee, and died July 23, 1926 in Branch, Franklin County, Arkansas.

Notes for JAMES FRANKLIN MILAM:
In 1859, James Franklin Milam migrated from Hardin County, Tennessee with his parents and extended family to Franklin County, Arkansas. In August 1862, he and two brothers, Rufus Kendrick Milam and Calaway Jackson Milam, were conscripted into the Confederate Army. All three were assigned to the 35th Arkansas Infantry Regiment, and served until June 1863, when all three deserted. Shortly thereafter, Rufus and James joined the Union Army and helped recruit members of their new unit, the 2nd Arkansas Cavalry (US Army). Rufus was made First Lieutenant and James, Sgt.  James Franklin Milam died in Frio County, Texas where he gone to live with his son, Oscar Everett Milam, because of health complications. His wife, Nancy remained in Arkansas.

iii. LOIS AMANDA BELL MILAM, b. October 03, 1873, Hardin County, Tennessee; d. April 01, 1880, Franklin County, Arkansas.

iv. MARTHA ELIZABETH MILAM, b. May 06, 1876, Hardin County, Tennessee; d. November 01, 1888, South Franklin County, Arkansas.
