Willie (Bill) Noble Milam
85, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away March 22, 2002. He was born March 12, 1917 in Provencal, Louisiana to Walter Joseph and Vera Julia Milam. He graduated from Louisiana Normal College, the first in his family to receive a college education. He faithfully served his country as a Naval pilot during World War II and the Korean War. Bill married Bonnie Marie Franklin in 1945 in Miami, Florida and their first child was born two years later. Three more children were born before the family moved to Tucson, Arizona. There, Bill became a teacher, later, a counselor and finally, Vice Principal of the Extended Program at Tucson High School. He was a faithful and active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he held many positions. Some of these positions included Bishop, Counselor and Missionary. After his retirement, he was able to devote more time to the church and to his family. He was preceded in death by his grand-daughter, Riley Erin Calderwood and is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his children, Bonnie Janelle Milam, William Noble Milam Jr., Merridi Lea Haskell and Julie Ann Calderwood; and also his 12 grandchildren; and three great-grand-children. Graveside services were held at the City of Mesa Cemetery on March 26. Memorial donations may be made to The Mohammed Ali Parkinson Foundation, 350 W. Thomas Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85013.
