Sarah Ellen Couch & William Guinn Milam

Sarah Ellen Couch was Cherokee Indian, being a member of the Long Hair Clan.  Her parents were Samuel M. Couch and Nancy Ellen Adair.  Sarah's name appeared on all of the Cherokee rolls since 1868.  On the 1896 roll she was listed as 1/8 Cherokee and her children as 1/16.  Willie was listed Cherokee by intermarriage.  For some reason, on the Dawes Commission Rolls, Sarah was listed as 1/16 and her children as 1/32.  She is also listed on the Guion-Miller Roll of 1909.
