Joseph Maylem, Jr.
Son of Joseph Maylem, Sr.

Joseph Maylem, Sr. apparently wrote 2 wills.   It is currently UNCLEAR which will was actually the final, or second, one.   Here, it is ASSUMED that the first will was the one in which Joseph, Sr. sought to "cutoff" Joseph, Jr. from any substantial inheritance since he left him only 5 shillings and made harsh comments regarding Joseph, Jr.'s behavior as a son.  Again, it is ASSUMED here, that Joseph, Sr. had a change of heart and made Will#2 in which Joseph, Jr. was given 10 acres of land in Nottingham, NH.  (It is very possible that the order of the Wills is reverse to that assumed here.)

Recent information still being developed, seems to indicate that Joseph, Jr. did live in Nottingham, NH after his father died.  This lends weight to the assumed order of the wills.  Also, if Joseph, Jr. had been living in NH prior to his father's death, it is doubtful that Joseph, Sr. would have made the statement, "....if he be alive and ever return to his native land...."  NH is too closeby to Boston for this statement to be appropriate.  Apparently, Joseph, Jr. returned from wherever he was, prior to his father's death, made amends, and went to reside in NH.
