Discussion:
If the John Milam listed here is John Milam of Halifax County, Virginia, it is the only record I know of that has both Thomas and John together.  This would lend credence to the assertion that they are brothers.  At least, they knew each other.

"Thomas Carr and William Carr being of lawfull age for that purpose came into court and made choice of John Carr to be their Guardian. Who together with James Hodges and John Milam his surity entered into bond and acknowledged the same."

Oliver: This must be JOV due to date and place. Some of JOV's land was bordered by Hodges', so this James Hodges may have been a neighbor, and possibly a friend to JOV.
